Fannie Mae-No Politics (FNMA)

I wrote IMHO because I don't know who is paying the FHFA staff. Is it Fannie/Freddie or is it the government?

Before Scotus, it wasn't even clear if FHFA was a government or independent (private?) institution. Scotus in June opined it is a government institution. But don't the salaries of FHFA employees still come from Fannie/Freddie - i.e., are deducted from profits earned?
