My biggest fear really. I think they have the most logical and cost effective business plan in the space, but it’s the batch compute idea that I want to see take off. Ideally I would like to see them roll off ASICS and into GPU’s to do that.
Discounted batch computing using dirt cheap modular data centers and cut rate intermittent green power makes so much sense, but if crypto implodes they won’t have the ability to migrate the business model that way.
Long term crypto may survive, but this level of margin in a commodity business won’t last forever, probably not more than 18 more months at a swag. Running as a low cost AWS competitor for certain use cases could though, and it’s sexy.
