The West tried to suppress the findings in S. Africa because it showed mild infections.

The "West"?? What are you talking about??

And, the S. Africans have been dealing with it far longer than the Brits.

Dealing with what?? Omicron?? It was detected there in late November. That is not "far longer" than anything.
