Burning Man
Burning Man has not been held for two years. It has mutated into a form more closely related to its roots. People "spontaneously" come and camp, as that is okay, but permitting for a large group evolved into a thousand bucks a ticket, a corporation (that is buying up land near it) and became a place where tourists came to ogle all the nekkid women and see the art works.
One of the forms it has taken is "Juplaya", a huge campout of individual groups around the fourth of July on the playa. The gatherings are not publicized as then they would be considered organized and thus subject to permitting by the BLM.
The corporation bought Fly Geyser and promptly made it private, only open once in a while for groups. It used to be accessible by us desert dogs, but Burning Man fucked it up. (it started from a well drilling operation gone wild)
It is questionable if it will ever return to its former status as a destination for the true hips, wannabe yuppies, and amazing artists. I watched it go from a huge festival of bohemians into a bucket list thing that attracted a lot of wannabes. (I live near Black Rock)
