Severe covid could be elevated respiratory rate, O2 less than 93 percent. Elevated heart rate. I.e. “severe” doesn’t necessarily mean very sick in this study.
Note that before the results from either Pfizer or moderna came back it was acknowledged that the studies would NOT tell you anything about mortality because of the size and duration is the study. (You should learn about the statistical term “power”)
