Trying to come up with some way to avoid chop -- it looks like woodie's chop zone indicator may be the best way, but i need to work on this. Some other things to consider:

1. when the 3/8 cross keeps flipping back and forth on the 5 min
2. the ADX on some time frame, not sure which is best
3. the RSI 5 on the 60 min; when it does not get OB or OS, that market is range bound. The RSI on the QQQQ was between 30 and and about 65 for the past 3 days, until today.
4. just look at an ema (maybe the 34, or 50, or a longer ema) on the 5 min chart -- if it is flat across the chart, the prices are flat.
5. the CCI 14 will stay in between the +/-100 lines in chop.

Funny how it is so hard to see the forest for the trees; it should be obvious the market is choppy when the price doesn't go anywhere.

There never was a moment, and never will be, when we are without the power to alter our destiny. This second, we can turn the tables on Resistance. This second, we can sit down and do our work.
