when you sell your ETH pair, whatever the coin is, you get paid in ETH, which is trading for around $3,800 per ETH.

then you sell your ETH to get dollars.

so ETH is just a currency.

another example:

imagine if the pair was PlentyCoin/BTC, there would be an enormous number of leading zeros because BTC is trading over $60K now, it's 60,0000X more expensive than USD.

but when you sold your PlentyCoin/BTC, you'd only have bitcoin, which you would then sell for USD if you wanted to put USD in your bank.

BNB is worth about $470 USD now. so if you had a PlentyCoin/BNB pair, you'd sell it, and have BNB, sell the BNB to have USD, and put that in the bank.

none of these conversions increase the leverage of the trade.

none of the charting visuals matter.

it's just a scale that shows relative value of every coin or token that's trading.
