90% of the truck driving jobs in a 100 mile area of my home want at least 3 years over the road experience with up to hazmat & airbrakes cdl and many of these are not hazmat trucks.
You can't get that walking into a truck driving school. I've got 40 years of driving, 23 years of cdl everything up to hazmat. Last three jobs I called on in Sept. for driving, I was turned down because of age, diabetes.
I have to list this on my dot card. So where's the real driver shortage.
And one of those places, I was in a room with four other guys and a woman vying for the job. They went with a newbie at less pay. I would have cost them more.
My pizza driving job was lost in 2020 in October when they shut down for good because of covid.
