Someone else, probably Linus Pauling, would have discovered the double helix that exists within the nucleus of every eukaryotic cell, but the credit goes to four scientists who discovered it in 1953. It should be considered the birth of the science of genomics. From that day forward, research began on how genes truly work. Gene therapy has been with us since the mid 1980s.

I don't quite understand how anyone can say gene therapy has resulted in the deaths of so many people that an actual reduction in world population has occurred.

They aren't evil sorcerers. They're just scientists.
