I have developed a new strategy this year...it will be an expensive one if I implement it as a matter of course. Watching the L2 on VXIT this year has taught me to realize that MMs are NOT 'market makers' but rather 'master manipulators'. Keep that in mind if you read further.
Taxes must come into play when you 'invest'. Short-Long term capital gains a BIG factor if you want to maximize your gains - keep more of it from Uncle Sam (can't say I like the way he spends my tax dollar). Short term buy/sell, over 30% given to the IRS. Long term (over a year held) buy/sell, around 15%. Obviously we have learned that long term holds is where it is at in getting more for(of) your buck.
Except MMs won't allow it. There motto for trade is churn. The faster it churns, more fees for them (up and down especially if you consider the short trade market). MMs play to win and only care if you do IF it results in you churning as well.
It is evident to me (unless you are willing to sit out numerous trade spikes and valleys) that we all will miss great opportunities to make green actually playing the market on a short term basis - unlike my 'old' way of buying a stock on merit and fundamentals with the mindset to wait long term to see it happen.
That habit seems to be less desirable these days. To win "more often" or at least try to while waiting it out seems to take forever these days, you MUST buy or sell the same stock many times over the course of a year.
Of course not only do the MMs make out if you do so, Uncle Sam loves it too (as long as you pay your taxes). We have been provided with a ring in our nose folks, now you have to determine if letting them hook you in will also make you money - while knowing nobody else gives a shit if you do or don't....as long as you have been forced to make them money.
Right or wrong. Only you know and only you trade accordingly. No one said making money would be easy if you earn it. On the other hand, if you steal it....
