Trading in and out of stocks around dividend dates doesn't work. That practice is called "dividend capture." Many newbies try it for a time and give up.

There have been funds that use dividend capture as a marketing gimmick to draw in money from retirees. In that regard, look up the old Alpine Funds, AOD and AGD. Those two funds gave up on dividend chasing a few years ago when their performance lagged terribly. They have since changed management and abandoned the dividend capture chase, much to the benefit of their shareholders.

I'll add that nothing paying 15%, like ORC, is risk-free.
