Experts always crack me up with their taste and smell inventions.
St. augustine, first bourbon on the list... seashore? resin? earth? cigar box? woodsy? And thats just a few. 28 distinct nose, 35 palate. berries develop? Only another competing taster would know what that is.
Update: Plus what part of the country to pull product from is also a factor. East/west missi, n/s of the country? Also, way too many micro distilleries out there.

Like describing a color as dark kneecap. I guess I know what a cigar box smells like, but tastes?

Many wine tasters have been fooled as well as spirits. It's all subjective, and in this case, probably some targeted marketing. What is interesting is the treatment oak/wood barrels get and how they supposedly flavor the product. Lots of companies char the wood staves before assembly, perhaps giving the burnt tone that seems to always show up in taste tests.

Didn't even check pricing but I would wager the higher up the higher the price. But whatever floats peoples boats.

Not really a spirits regular drinker, but I like Woodford Reserve because to me it's really smooth. I don't know if I can taste 'velvet jewelry case' or whatever, but it doesn't burn at any time.

Although Kesslers whiskey can be a lingering finish reminiscent of gym socks.
