yeah just ask WallMart. What is the potential fire hazard of 1000's of watts traveling down a cable from your local utility company?

I have known a few installers and more than a few DIY'ers. Solar panel fires are almost unheard of.

Fires from lightening strikes are more common.

The UL testing and others that will have to be made take a lot of time. In many cases these tests involve aging under different climatic conditions and many other criteria that require based on time under varied conditions to help determine safety and efficiency. How well will it perform under stress etc, UV bombardment etc etc etc. and for how long?

Let's don't be in a hurry.

I would be just as interested if not more so in the certification testing of the "escaping contaminated air" excuse from Lopez/Dem/AG. That will be a question any other state/municipality will want to know.
