Irresponsible to draw correlation between the two, Volkswagen’s squeeze was triggered when Porsche announced they were increasing their holdings via stock and options to the tune of a potential control of almost 75%. VW shares were also made scarce by funds required to hold the shares for index tracking proportional to its very large weighting at the time. It left about 1% of the float on the market. Porsche’s announcement of the stake increase made about a 13% short interest scramble to buy back, with only 1% available. That’s why it rocketed like it did.

AMC will not be gobbled up by a major player in that fashion, the price and the fundamentals don’t support it as a reasonable business decision for anyone. There will be plenty of floating shares to cover here. I believe this will spike in August, likely to new highs, but under no circumstances will this go that crazy
