Not that I don't believe they can tell SCOTUS to stuff it, but doing so just enables the defendants to appeal again, right? I imagine SCOTUS can compel the lower court to comply and possibly cite them for contempt.
I don't know why anyone would stick their necks out for us on this one. And 81 pages of SCOTUS opinion don't leave a lot of room for creative reinterpretation even if they wanted to subtly non-comply.
