I hope you get the chance, i didnt know about them either until this past April when one of my sons suggested as an alternative to going to movies. And boy was it worth it! You can schedule a reservation and it is private and there will be gaming monitors talkn in your ear so you dont get carried away and faceplant. The immersion is so real (in digital format of course) that you literally forget where you are in reality. The feeling of movement like when you hop on a moving platform or elevator is unreal. In some instances you feel like you are walkn downwards which is weird on a flat surface. Gaming monitors will warn not to walk too fast or run to avoid an imbalanced faceplant. There are perimeter sensors that will warn you inside the game that you are approaching a physical wall or getting too close to another player... Better listen, haha!!
