Nathan Rothchild did it by lying. He knew a day in advance Nepolean had lost at Waterloo and spread a lie that Nepolean had won. This caused a mass sell off/Crash of certain stocks and Rothchild bought at a massive discount and when news hit that Nepolean had actually lost the stocks soared back up!
