We got probably less than 50% out of which , guessing, Nader took 10% of that vote.
In the meantime the the Christian Right had known and been
working 24/7 to get their supporters 100% into the voting booth, and also into the PTAs across the land, and the town meetings across the land.
To get their supporters to vote 100% on the local, state and national level.
During the entire Clinton years they were working tirelessly to get hold of any position of power from PTA president to Senator.
In the meantime, the democratic party intimidated by this voting block did the dumbest thing imaginable, they started to sidle up to the CRW( the christian right wing) and covet their vote.
Why ?? Just two bit party hacks playing politics rather than actually have a cause, a purpose of their own: which should have been to beat back this voting block with a movement of their own.
Movement of their OWN??? These democrats had become a poiltical machine of CENTRISM--which means , let's please everybody and offend no one, in otherwords they had become "don't rock the boat" BORING, that rejected anything that might actually form a movement because it was more inspiring than navy grey .
The Democratic Party had become like a giant engineless sail boat in the Sargasso's Sea.
Adrift, no wind, no leader; becalmed, without direction.
And the topping point, the placing of the FoolsCap on the head of the Democratic Party as we entered 2000, was that the democratic machine thought by sidling up to, don't upset the Christian Right, they would actually get a significant percentage of their vote!!! Hell these CRWs don't waver, they have who they will vote for memorized.
So by playing "don't offend" the Christian Right they increased the vote for themselves by ZERO and kept at least 20% saying "i'd rather die than vote for these centrist weenies and there, give me a break, is that the best you have to offer , Al 'the Bore' Gore" --( the man who should have been performing i am an oak tree without leaves in deep winter, and just as cold; imitations.)
And hell Bush almost LOST, and he did lose the popular vote.(General Boykin has ordained this impossible victory an miracle PERFORMED by G-D, that G-D put Bush in the WhiteHouse)

When you have a rigid Two-Party system, where no one wins the the Presidency unless they be Republican or Democrat, it gets to be dicey to decide guilt.
In the last election i will say the public was betrayed by the gross incompetence of the Democratic Party machine.
In 1972 the United States had a choice between Nixon and McGovern, McGovern was whipped.
In that instance, hands down, The People Got the Government THEY Deserved
If the public gets a clear decision in 2004 as in 1972, and they vote in Bush, then i can say we as a country have not improved in 32 years, and the country would be getting EXACTLY what it deserves. And that we, based on the voting majority measure ONLY, are indeed a ROTTEN country, a country that has lost its' soul.

However the re-election of Bush would make the stormy 60s/early 70s look in hindsight as only a level #1 hurricane when compared with what would follow 2004,imo. gd
