I got both Moderna jabs but can walk in anywhere and get Pfizer now (NY) and was wondering if receiving both sets of vaccines would be beneficial or detrimental.
Probably the only thing that buys ya is resetting the clock. They know both Moderna and Pfizer provides protection for 6 months. Not known is how much longer, without a booster, as they continue to monitor the Abs in the participants of the Phase 3 trials, which the EUAs were based on. Thus, getting the Pfizer on top of the Moderna would be good for at least 6 months of immunity. With Ab titers surging back up. But, it's unclear how much better off one would be against the variant strains. Especially 6 months later. Maybe one would get a goose to the CD4+, and CD8+ T cells.
My plan is to pester the Dr when the Moderna 351 booster comes out. Get protection against the E484K mutation, and then good to go for up to a year. Also I suspect I got Covid 21 days after the Moderna 2nd jab. Came in like a ton of bricks (3 degree fever, chills, aches), and was gone overnight in 18 hrs total. About what would be expected for a vaccinated primed immune system.
P.S. Here in NC, I got the Moderna thru the UNC healthcare system. Where UNC was a participating site for the Moderna vaccine trial. Back in Feb-Mar that's the only vaccine they offered. Then came J&J later. With J&J distribution now screwed up via the FDA citations on their manufacturing plant. In response UNC has suddenly started to offer a torid of appt slots for the Pfizer vaccine. Probably close to the Moderna appt slots in number they are offering. In NC there's no shortage of mRNA vaccines. The only shortage is gasoline.
