2) EAC is loosing a buttload of money, so they want to get rid of it
This seems likely. I can't find it on a map. Couple reviews talk about it being closed for renovations (2017) and one where the staff had to turn on the lights when they arrived and 2nd floor was closed (2016).
Some sort of Chinese shell game is occurring here. Lol.
