The banksters have been manipulating Au and Ag for as long as I can remember. Paper has become so ridiculously detached from physical that it’s almost a different entity. They can still violently jerk the price of an oz 1-2% anytime they want, but they are quickly losing the ability to deflate the premium people are willing to pay for a minted coin. Imo, gold and silver are not, and have never been, get rich quick vehicles. But little can match their ability to protect wealth. They can (and apparently are willing to) pump trillions of dollars of dollars into the system, but an oz of gold will still buy the same amount of goods it would a hundred years ago.
