I looked into this already. Donald R Looper is their attorney for lease purchase & acquisition negotiations and filings, and he "Represents ASX companies investing to develop oil and gas reserves in the United States". The subsidiaries, which each have a piece of the 88E acreages tied to them, are probably just used as entities to spread their leases & liabilities out to multiple LLC's so that 88E is not overexposed as one entity should something not go right.

However, the firm also specializes in Mergers and Acquisitions in the Oil & Gas industries, and Donald Looper has been part of a few (notably in the Middle East with the acquisition of 2 oil fields by a BVI corp for $1.1 Billion). So if they ARE negotiating anything, Looper Goodwine P.C. will be their firm of choice. This is their specialty and forte after all.
