It takes a plan to cancel the shares . There was on plan to issue new shares to creditors and restructure the debt . It was liquidated and creditors got pennies, leaving millions of dollars in debt attached to the now worthless shares .?
There was no plan of compromise or arrangement made in the CCAA Proceedings in respect of the Companies to otherwise address creditor claims. As such those claims remain outstanding and rank in priority to equity claims.
