Totally believable. One night outside Vancouver city limits late '50s early '60s i ran a red light. Was foggy, windshield wipers weren't working and raining hard. Was driving slowly as could hardly see. One taillight out too. Siren. Sorry officer, have come from a party and am going straight home. Guaranteed if i were not who i was it would have been the slammer that night. Lucky it was a good RCMP guy too. Vancouver police didn't have such a decent reputation.
