In Judaism there were two dominant traditions. The HOUSE OF SHAMMAI was the more rigid and conservative that emphasized adherence to the letter of religious law. The key ethical principle seems to be adherence to it's very detailed, highly legalistic rules. The HOUSE OF HILLEL, by contrast, followed the great Jewish teacher Hillel and was the more liberal side that emphasizes openheartedness. We always know more than we can say, more than we can write down, it maintained.

Your answer cemented the thoughts i was having of you. Just so you know, a belief in your Christian concept of God is beyond me. Those who know me know. Quite simply, i was kicked out of Sunday school for asking how the preacher didn't know that God wasn't a big, fat African woman. At that tender age the "he" thing was bothering me and PC wasn't such a social disease.
P - The evolutionary history of the Gods continues to be solid evidence to me that "he" was created in the mind of and in the image of MAN, rather than the other way around as the church teaches. Seriously, chuckle, they have it backwards, tex. Betcha bottom dollar. Wondered about it for years and just think now that every single person who believes they are talking to God, is actually talking to themselves. You know that part of you which feels what is right and what is wrong.
P - The way i see it the Christians did a power grab when they invented a new religion by making Jesus 'one with' and
co-creator with 'God' and the literal Christian miracles, in this day of science and reason, are a bit hard to take.

Oh well, that didn't turn out as expected. Should have searched Roman Empire. Or propaganda, but there would have been too many to go through. Missed the one i was thinking of.

I've long felt the longevity and continuing success of Christianity, in spite of the many murder, mayhem, sex and child exploitation scandals, still today, has to be put down as one of the greatest propaganda successes of all time.
