Re: I think that's too strong a word. Especially in the timeframe it's expected out, which is likely to be overly optimistic as well. AMD is in SLIP mode and if anything it's getting worse. There is no reason to believe K8L will be better than Intel's current shipping Quad core. Against Penryn, which could come out first, it will be a different story.

Elmer, I don't proclaim to know one way or the other which product will be better, but AMD's new design has all the right elements to be a very competitive part. Fabulous may be a strong word, but I think if there is anything on AMD's roadmap that Intel investors should take seriously, it is this chip. Without it, AMD is dead; but with it, they have a fighting chance to regain leadership in 2007.

If Penryn comes first, I think AMD will be quite hard pressed to counter with anything. It is off to a great start, however, and AMD has yet to show their part in as much health.
