Ameritrade became very conservative on deliverying FS shares after the GVRP event. Prior to that they had an automated feed (that GVRP insiders had not planned on) which delivered FS shares from the DTC real time. Then came GVRP. It was problematic! Only 33M shares were in the OS and 100M shares authorized and yet insiders sold FS shares early destroying the OS and Auth share structures recognized by the SEC. A short position of 660 BILLION shares existed on a 33M OS stock. VERY SCARY assumming rules as written at the time were to be enforced. LOL. yeah sure, of course the regulators threw the rule book away and gave the insiders a slap on the wrist. Manipulation in the market place could have been severely punished and a message could have been sent. Instead those who sold (95% or so had AT as broker) ended up being able to keep an instant 130 times their money and the incident was swept under the carpet. The remaining shareholders who owned the company 12,000 times over were simply out of luck as efforts resulted by market forces to prevent the stock from ever trading again (while we sweep it under the rug). Those with huge massive short positions were never made to cover.

In markets like Japan where a FAIR market exist when something 1/1000th the size of this occurred millions were lost. In the US a conspiracy results. GVRP the most unfair incident in the history of all stock markets.

After this AT adopted a NEW policy that the shares must have been delivered before they would credit your account.

SO IF AMERITRADE MADE A HUGE MISTAKE WITH GVRP WHY DID THEY ONLY HAVE TO PAY OUT 1% OF THE TRUE COSTS?
