Give us your views on the possibilities of this and the difference in the Johnson and Johnson vaccine in comparison....
Assuming the J&J can generate a high enough titer in the mother, the Abs could also be passed onto the child. The higher the titer, the further along in gestation, the more likely the transfer of Abs.
Are we changing ourselves enough to pass it along to future generation?
Nope it's the same ole as always: Mother makes the Abs, and passes the IgG class through the placenta to the baby. The Abs only last a few weeks post birth. But the Mother isn't done, there's the constant supply of the IgA class in the mother's milk. If infected post birth, the mother's antibodies neutralize the virus in the baby's body. With the baby's immune system likely not to react. There's nothing to react against, the mother's Abs having already neutralized the virus.
Once the mother's Abs are gone (e.g. post weaning), then one has a baby totally unprotected from Covid. Unless they were continuously infected as the maternal Abs started to fall. Allowing their immune systems to gradually see the virus. If this doesn't happen then... Welcome to the world of child vaccines. Still TBD for Covid.
But there's no changing ourselves. Still the same ole human immune system.
