Shooting from the hip... I love it. A thousand years would be supporting my argument but no, wasn't thinking a thousand years.

Spider silk yarn will be a niche market for those looking for advanced properties and can afford it. You realise there is a difference between mundane and spider silk yeah? One needs to be screened for quality as it is going to be under much more stress than mundane silk. The 70,000 tonnes of Chinese produced mundane silk you speak of are destined for the clothing industry.

You win when it comes to arguing that China has the advantage when it comes to production. But how many people buy Chinese cars? A Chinese company will quickly go bankrupt if there are no consumers.

If you want to sell high tensile strength and durability you need to ensure a good quality control system that has integrity. A review of Chinese warranties and aftersales support is going to alarm you.

But how hard can this be, right??.. and yet so many Chinese exports suffer on the Western market such as their food industry, plastics, electronics, solar panels, steel, airliners, cars, military hardware...

It's been over 20 years since they entered the World Trade Organisation and yet their system still suffers.

Hey maybe you're right... a thousand years.
