I am suspecting that if they know the new product or services is gonna be good they would cancel few billions of share. Also, they may announce funding. That will increase the price.

If someone else is doing reverse merger than that will be also good for the stock price. It may happen that this went under control of a new owner who may wanting to take their product or service public quickly. Most likely the shell is going get taken over.
