Your post may be - in the end - realistic, but it is way too fatalistic for me.

And we live in times with paradigma shifts. Did u follow the GameStop saga? Things that were unthinkable only a few months ago, suddenly get real.
WHAT do we have to loose? Instead of owning maximum 2% of this, I work with odds of maybe 2% of changing things.
Yes, it is a lost case very likely. But are we really 100 % sure? And for me, it is a moral question too.
So GO to Twitter ASAP and express ur frustration, raise ur voice. Tell them DIRECTLY that u won't accept this. That u still hope they will take back this decision, but if not, that there will be price to be paid.
As a wrote: there is ONE thing that is more valuable than "data": REPUTATION, CONFIDENCE, TRUST. That is the target point.
