If they can't get any money as a result of the disinformation campaign, which
surely must have contained much content qualifying as libel, then whoever could.

One hurdle any judge might have to deal with is how does Smartmatic prove the defendants
didn't actually believe what they said. Then again that probably is not key

To prevail in a defamation lawsuit, a plaintiff must prove that the defendant made a
false and defamatory statement about the plaintiff that was communicated to a third party.
