I must break my response into two parts:

1) re: "You're kidding!"

Oh, no! I'm not!!!

The basic rule of contending with opposition is to "Know Your Enemy". Dismissing the opposition as ignorant contravenes that rule. It may be ego gratifying in the short term but it is disastrously foolish in the long term.

And, on the same point ...

I find it hilarious that you castigate me for calling it improper to attribute ignorance to those who disagree with us ... while, in another post, saying (apparently about the president), "His arrogance and lack of respect for Americans who disagree with him is stunning." (#msg-16024652)

Of course, you can always respond that "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds".


2) re: "I guess you don't have a problem with seeing the Constitution run through the shredder."

I think that's a non sequitor. How does my respect for American voters translate into an assumption that I don't oppose the betrayal of our Constitution? Is not our Constitution believed to vest our government in our people ... those you consider ignorant as well as those you consider bright.

I've been quite vociferous (by my standards) about the subversion of our Constitution. I can only assume you are unfamiliar with my views on the matter. I can't blame you for not reading all that turgid verbiage, but I can hardly respect your lack of understanding when you make such a statement.
