i am under the impression that when you get a brokerage account you sign a paper asking if you want your name disclosed, if you allow you will be on the NOBO if you dont you will be an Objecting Beneficial owner and the shares are in the brokerages name as far as anyone else knows. (In canada anyway)

In the end, remember who and what led you down the path.
