That which is oxidized is a reducing agent, and visa versa.

The most potent and deadly oxidizer is O2 Super Oxide AnIon and certain antibodies in the Body (I forget right now which ones, (Macrophages???) that make it and use to kill bad things and invaders.

The body can kill itself with friendly fire from them. One example is Asbestos. Super Oxide Anion O2(-1) has an extra electron, thus it has -1 charge, and it can kill asbestos fibers trapped in the lungs due the size and shape of the fibers, they get trapped, and the body spends years trying to kill it. It results in lung damage from friendly fire.

Over active Immune systems are basically doing that or something similar. In the case of Super Oxide Anion the body has a special enzyme that neutralizes it, it is not Glutathione, it is SOD SuperOxide Dismutase which is available OTC (I take it daily)
