Hey I-Man, I understand your viewpoint here. I do. But I'm interested right now in what you wrote here the other day about your construction vehicles and internal combustion engines vs. electric possibilities.

Reason is, some years ago I had the experience of being in the multi-story-high cab of a walking dragline excavator WHILE it was being operated at the Kayenta coal mine, Black Mesa, AZ. This thing actually walked... it scooped up 84 cubic yds of overburden with every haul, and the thing was operating so fast - the Navajo man operating it looked like he was in the midst of a fast and furious video game. (He looked over his shoulder at me, grinned and asked, "You wanna try?) I felt like I'd walked into the set of some new Star Wars sequel.

Anyway, this beast was all electric. The electric cable powering it was twice as thick as my arm, and it lay there on the mine floor just like a long extension cord. Ever since then, I've thought, well then, there isn't ANY vehicle on earth that can't be electric. So I'm really curious about your take on this. Do you really think not - no matter what? Is it a convenience thing, so maybe in SOME construction activities, at least, electric could work?

How about your company and your machines - are you in cold country (rather than desert) - and would that make a difference?
