Sauer Energy buys Helix Wind's assets
(SeeNews) - May 14, 2012 - US wind power technology developer Sauer Energy Inc (OTC:SENY) said Monday it had acquired all of the assets of small vertical axis wind turbine maker Helix Wind Corp (PINK:HLXW).

Sauer Energy, which develops a vertical-axis wind turbine called WindCharger, said it paid for the acquisition using its common shares, without disclosing the value of the deal. Following the purchase, which was completed on Friday, Helix has become a division of Sauer Energy. The buyer is to keep Helix's brand name and website.

Sauer Energy president and chief executive Dieter Sauer said the company planned to offer both the Helix and Sauer Energy lines of products to capture a higher market share in small wind. "A substantial advantage of acquiring Helix at this time is the availability of an additional revenue stream," Dieter added. He also said that the company's production facility could accommodate Helix's manufacturing.

Helix turbines were previously produced in Asia and the statement said the plans were to move manufacturing to the US as operations were being ramped up. Helix has installed turbines in 17 countries through its distribution network.
