for sure both parties (think Bush and Clinton) argue that everyone should own or strive to own a house/home

and I think there is some logic/truth to that for most people


at same time - IMO - what can roil the housing market is the absence of a guarantee - be it explicit (as now) or implicit (as before the curtain was moved over)

put in a guarantee and then I agree 110%

so what do we need for a guarantee ?

some level of capital (say 50% of what Calabria says)
and some form of regulated PRIVATE utility model with ROI set at say 8% and part of the objective/mission helping working America buy homes (at some level of risk - somehow measured)
