And there is a lot of difference in having an overly bloated share count then a smaller one.

The more bloated the share structure the worse terms you will get on debt deals, the more shares it will take to execture any deals, the more shares available to allow for increased manipulation of the stock and so on.

The lower the share count and higher the price can get higher quality investor, less shares for transactions, better debt terms and so on.
