If Reid is solely to blame for the lower court judge
situation then McConnell is solely to blame for the SCOTUS situation. How does that not follow?

Because Reid gave McConnell the opportunity to do what he is doing. Can't you see that? McConnell even predicted it at the time, but Reid was too dense or blinded by his own short term goals, to recognize what McConnell was telling him.
