Helms-Burton title III suits

As we previously noted, several of the initial claims had been filed in US courts targeting cruise ships, hotels and related booking agencies, and airlines, among others in US courts. Since that time, several decisions have been rendered rejecting the plaintiffs’ claims. Such decisions have clarified the statute's requirement that alleged trafficking must be known and intentional, and that claimants must have acquired ownership of the properties before March 12, 1996, among other issues. This has stopped certain US claims moving forward. At the same time, this does not mean that all such claims will be unsuccessful, and the Helms-Burton case law remains in its early stages. Canadians with an interest in Cuba that may subject to Helms-Burton suits in the US should remain vigilant as further US claims develop.

So called clarified' the Helms Burton was intentionally crafted with a very broad reach and the failure to enact Title III in a timely fashion may give rise to hundreds of thousands of potential claimants beyond large Certified claims like ours

I believe there can be as many as 4 settlements reached if not more but due to NDA's we may never know more than Voluntary Dismissal took place
so we are looking for a YUGE WIN in a very public way and maybe just ahead of November
