California's fires are unusually epic this year. One is over a quarter million acres. One blew up yesterday at Mammoth Pool... 30,000 acre run in one afternoon. 300 people got trapped. A national guard chinook helicopter saved them, they were huddled at the edge of the lake, the fire surrounded the lake. 10 were injured, mostly burns, no deaths. The pyrocumulus cloud from the blowup reached 50,000 feet, the picture was taken from a commercial airliner.
