We've all heard of heart and other organ involvement in Covid-19 patients, I'm uncertain if it's seen prior to pneumonia being serious enough to require hospitalization. If it doesn't occur until patients are on, or approaching ventilators, perhaps we'll be permitted to initiate PLX-PAD prior to patients being put on ventilators.
I believe that experience will show that earlier intervention can prevent patients from going on ventilator, but at this point I believe the trial is only being used in ventilator patients. If we had an approval, Doctors could use the drug when they choose, hopefully it will save a great deal as hospital stays can be shortened, or perhaps even eliminated if given shortly after pneumonia is first detected. It would be an expensive initial treatment, but if it avoided a hospital stay the savings would be huge.
