US president Donald Trump reportedly bullied world leaders - including Prime Minister Scott Morrison - during “sadistic” phone calls.

Mr Trump was so abusive to long-standing American allies that senior US officials became convinced he posed a national security risk, according to a report published by Carl Bernstein, the journalist who broke the Watergate scandal

The CNN report .. https://edition.cnn.com/2020/06/29/politics/trump-phone-calls-national-security-concerns/index.html .. claims Defense Secretary James Mattis and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson ultimately concluded the President was often “delusional” and if senior Republicans were to hear the phone calls “they would no longer be able to retain confidence in the President”.

“Trump regularly bullied and disparaged other leaders of the western alliance during his phone conversations – including French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison – in the same hostile and aggressive way he discussed the coronavirus with some of America’s governors,” the report reads.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister told news.com.au .. https://www.news.com.au/finance/work/leaders/trumps-sadistic-phone-calls-to-scott-morrison-world-leaders-revealed/news-story/a10bf56d7e2d03fcf5405775030eb3c1 .. he had never been bullied or abused by the US President in their phone calls.

Mr Trump’s first phone call with Mr Morrison’s predecessor Malcolm Turnbull in 2017 ended with the US President furiously hanging up on the then-PM.

The conversation was about a refugee swap deal made with Barack Obama, which required the US to take in 1250 asylum seekers from Australia.

Mr Trump accused Mr Turnbull of using America as a dumping ground and referred to the agreement as a “bad deal”.
