I think you can find similar articles about the stock traders that came with the rise of discount brokers in the 1980s (70s?). And, again with the rise of day traders with internet trading.

For the last few years there has been controversy on high frequency traders.

Now people are talking about Robinhood traders.

Retail shareholder will adapt as will the rest of the market.
