With a fee I am more selective when I buy and sell and for how much

That can make a big difference for an illiquid stock like HERB.

Not that I had much choice, but the advantage of using Interactive Brokers is that their maximum fee is 1%. In that case if doesn't matter whether your bid is hit by 1 share or fully matched

That's the only reason to use Interactive Brokers though, I really don't like their platform
