Americans are done with shelter in place. That's history.

Italy, Spain and France were smart and sheltered in place for 2 months with far tougher restrictions than the US did. They were able to drive down the number of new cases and deaths dramatically. Only now they are considering slowly open. This isn't about ideology or freedom, it is about epidemiology. Americans are showing they are weak, selfish and ignorant. This isn't going to to end well for us. We will get to 100,000 deaths by the end of May, in a mere 3 months, and that is with shelter in place and social distancing. It isn't just about deaths, it is about large numbers of people being hospitalized for several weeks as well, and those who recover can take many more weeks to get back to somewhat normal.

Hopefully, people will still practice social distancing and wear some type of protection but they'll be fed up with that soon

Yes, Americans are showing they are weak, selfish and ignorant. This isn't going to to end well for us.

The WSJ has a nice article tonight describing how Fla got away with their behavior. It makes some good points.

Talk about declaring victory way too soon. You left off Texas, Iowa, Nebraska and Tennessee among others.

All said and done, and while any death is sad, I'm not sure what the stats will look like in a year. U,S has around 255k deaths per month which has been growing about 1.1% per year because of our aging population.

It'll be interesting to see what 2020 looks like when the data is done. My guess is it won't be a drastic change

Once again, the concept that a highly contagious and highly lethal diseases and causes large number of people to be hospitalized can't be compared to other causes of deaths has eluded you.
