Sure did. I've heard the comment that while the policy could have led to half the number of deaths in the long run public pressure has led to government policy changes. Have heard that from more than one place. If the first part of that comment was an accepted best odds probability, and the government was committed to it, then it's hard to understand why pressure to change has influenced government so quickly. Maybe politics still rules as much as mathematics.

In any case it looks obvious that test, test, test with social isolation is the most favored expert recommendation as best practice.
