Smart guy trying to fix it himself. A terrible few days, but his account is consistent with what i heard this morning. That those in hospital are being treated as if they had a bad case of flu, or pneumonia. Some with preexisting respiratory problems, like myself (some COPD), if necessary are on breathing apparatus.
Sounds he had about 10 very bad days, then he beat it. Good man.
U.S. coronavirus fatality rate could be lower than global rate so far [...] Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, co-authored an article in the New England Journal of Medicine, published last week, stating that the true fatality rate of covid-19 “may be considerably less” than 1 percent, and “may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/coronavirus-mortality-rate/2020/03/06/b0c4cdfc-5efc-11ea-b014-4fafa866bb81_story.html
and the reply which goes back to unknown, so i can't help wondering how much of this travel ban stuff we would be better off without. Will the economic damage done in the end be seen to have been a result of political theater?
That question will never be answered to everyone's satisfaction. Maybe better to be safer than sorrier will win out at the end.
It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
