I share your doubts. There are several factors in play. First is the long delay between the announcement and the event. That works against momentum. If the date was only a week away, investors would anticipate good news and drive the share price up. Three weeks, enthusiasm wanes.
Next we have the historical ‘Rise on the rumor, fall on the news’ dynamic. Thompson will have to outdo himself with this announcement. If he states we have 100% spider silk but doesn’t share strength measurements, production announcements, etc, investors will be disappointed. A new procedure will be important but I doubt the technical details will be appreciated. It’s too hard to understand the import, even if KBLB has made a genuine breakthrough. Speculators may spike the share price, but it won’t last.
It is very unlikely that KBLB will pair this with delivery news. The re-ignition would have to have started about Jan 19 to accommodate the silkworm life cycle plus time for reeling.
As always, I will be happy to be wrong about this.
